Gama (Jp.)

Japanese word for 'kiln'.

For example, an anagama (noun) is a specific type of hill-climbing kiln. Its name comes from the Japanese word for kiln, gama, with the addition of "cave", ana. In other words, a cave kiln. Anagamas are single-chambered, wood-fired kilns that were first developed in the third century BC in China. The technology came to Japan through Korea.
