Xianhong

Ming dynasty bright red glaze, turning red due to its copper content when fired in a reducing atmosphere. Declined during the 15th, 16th and early 17th century due to little understood reasons. Revived as Jihong (Sacrificial red) during the Kangxi period because of the ritual significance of the Xuande originals
