GLOSSARY

Setters

Setter are the objects used to support any ceramic piece in the kiln during firing to minimize warping or contact between the kiln furniture and the glaze. Setters are designed so as to have the smallest possible surface area in contact with the glazed object. The disruptions in the glaze of the ceramic object caused by setters are called setter's marks, spur marks or firing marks.
